Matisse has fascinated me for years, but it was his extraordinary cut-outs that eventually found their way into my sketchbook.
Late in his life, Matisse began creating shapes from painted paper with scissors, reducing leaves, figures and other forms to something wonderfully simple and graphic. I loved that economy of line, but when I began drawing my own Matisse leaf, I softened the edges and curves until it became its own shape.
Then I added a tiny brilliant diamond, placed like a drop of water resting on the leaf. Because apparently I find it quite difficult to leave gold entirely alone.
And, as often happens with my jewellery, I wanted it to do more than one thing. The leaf can be removed from the ear stud and slipped onto a chain, transforming the earring into a pendant. Wear both as earrings, wear one in your ear and the other around your neck, or change them whenever the mood strikes.
One design. Two functions. And a little Matisse in the back of my mind.

Return your order to : Jewelry are to be unused other than for the purpose of trying on for fit. If there is evidence to suggest that the goods have been used to a degree such as to decrease the value of the product, the customer loses his/her right to exercise a return. We will only refund to the credit card that was used to place the order - this is to prevent fraud! JOSINA Jewelry will NOT refund any customs duties and sales taxes. Our return policy does not affect your statutory rights. Depending on the country to which your order was sent, you may be able to contact your local customs bureau directly for a refund of these costs.
